So I hit 34 without too much of a melt down like previous years. I’m really not one for celebrating my own birthday in a big style, so this year I really wanted to go to the Mad Hatters tea party at The Sanderson in London. I’ve heard such great things about it and it didn’t disappoint !!
On the scale of afternoon teas with a difference this has to be right up there. The Sanderson itself is pretty cool, as you walk in your greated by a huge red lip sofa and modern design features !!
The Tea itself is in the courtyard , it was throwing it down but they make it into more of a conservatory putting up sides and patio heaters – it was perfect ! We got to choose our tea there were 5 different flavours all named after the various characters, we all chose different so we could taste at least 3. The savoury a were soon out and wow the cheese on toast was something else, yes I had seconds !!!
Then the cakes.. What can I say it was beautiful. More like pieces of art and I did at one point feel a little bad for eating the caterpillar but it was delicious.
Overall I’d recommend this experience to anyone, we took Oscar and Hollie the waitress’s were great with Oscar, it’s really is for any age group. It was £60 per person and you can upgrade to different drinks packages, I had a pink champagne package, it was my birthday haha. So yes it more pricey than your average afternoon tea but this was certainly no average tea !!
